A set time will be given when we meet again at the YHA this evening. Accommodation in hostel-style rooms in Adelaide and continental breakfast is also included. Other meals own expense.
Day 2) Departure for this Outback Tour is at the YHA in  Adelaide, 135 Waymouth Street is at 7am. This is the start of a wonderful Outback Adventure and beyond. We escape the city heading north to the  Flinders  Ranges passing through small country towns like Quorn and Hawker. The scenery/ landscapes changes to rugged mountains and ridges with an abundance of native flora and fauna. Tonight we stay at Angorichina Village in hostel-style accommodation. Angorichina is situated in the magnificent Parachilna Gorge, the heart of the Flinders Ranges.

Day 3) Today we head further up north and on the dirt road towards Marree, which is rich in history and home of the great Camel Trains. From there we head along the Oodnadatta Track where we follow the Old Ghan Railway line and abandoned railway settlements. This part of the country is very remote with its red, stony plains, which stretch out into the horizon. We arrive at our first campsite William Creek, S.A.’s smallest town, where you will sleep out under the desert stars in a swag and get to enjoy an open campfire and a chance to roast some marshmallows.

Day 4) Continuing along this isolated track we head through the world’s largest cattle station, Anna Creek and head towards the Opal capital of the world, Coober Pedy. Where we will stay the night. On arrival we take an underground tour where you will learn more about the history of this unique place, its Opals and why the locals live underground. You will then have some time to explore this charming town in the desert. After lunch we will visit a local kangaroo orphanage. Tonight you will experience what the locals do and that is sleep underground at Umoona.
Day 5) A big day of driving up the Stuart Highway with several pit stops along the way headed for Watarrka (Kings Canyon). We will camp at Kings Creek Station where you will get to see some camels up close.

Day 6) We spend the morning at beautiful Watarrka doing the Kings Canyon Rim Walk, wondering through the sandstone domes. Lots of great photo opportunities. After building up an appetite we head back to camp for a feed and then head off to Yulara (Ayers Rock Camping Grounds) where we will camp for 2 nights. Once setting up camp we will head to Sunset Boulevard where we will watch the ever-changing colour of the Rock as the sun sets over Uluru. Truly a very majestic and spiritual experience.

Day 7) This morning we hike the magnificent Valley of the Winds at Kata Tjuta (The Olgas) with its incredibly ancient rock formations. Then it’s onto the Cultural Centre where you will learn more about this wonderful arid land and its people. After lunch we will have a relaxing afternoon back at our camp. Depending on the weather and water conditions you can go for a swim in the campgrounds swimming pool. You are only allowed to swim during set times and only under our supervision.
Day 8) An early morning rise and back to Sunset Boulevard to watch the sunrise over Uluru and then back to camp for breakfast. After breakfast we will walk around the base of Uluru.
Please note: Petra’s Tailor Made Tours respects the wishes and culture of the Australian Indigenous Communities in not climbing Uluru. Our final destination is Alice Springs. Approximate arrival time is 6.30pm. Once we have settled into the YHA we will head out for our farewell dinner.
